July 18th 2012 – Riding for Ali 2012 Begins.

Alison always loved riding and there is no secret about my passion for the sport.  From the outset I thought that getting out into the country and talking to people would be a great way to spread the word about  Ali’s Alliance.  Ali’s Alliance is about connecting people managing cancer with the resources and support to make the journey a little easier, to help create a better quality of life through the process.

Last year I journeyed across three corners of the lower 48 states and spoke with survivors, caregivers and many in the healthcare industry.  I was looking for ways to make the Ali’s Alliance website (www.AlisAlliance.org) more useful, easier to understand and easier to navigate.  May 10th of 2012 we launched the new website and the search engine and database went live.  We’ve included ways to view all of the resources registered in a given area and then to be able to filter those results to locate specific types of assistance.   We’ve included a news search to help locate the latest work being done on a variety of different cancers.  As I continue to meet with and learn from those managing cancer on a day to day basis we will continue to refine and hopefully improve the Ali’s Alliance website.

One of the most import tasks before us is reaching out to people who offer support and services to those battling cancer.  If you or anyone you know works with, or provides help to the cancer community, that service provider should be listed in the Ali’s Alliance database.  This includes not only doctors, but alternative medicine doctors, nurses, physical therapists, nutritionists, massage therapists, and acupuncturists.  The list includes churches, patient navigators, sources of financial assistance and social workers plus many many more.  Please go to the website and click the link at the top that say “Join the List”.  Simply fill out the form and save your work.  That’s it. No cost.  Free !
